-Make sure your voicemail has been set up. I canโt tell you how many times my colleagues and tried to contact a college student or new graduate and found their voicemail wasnโt even set up yet. Iโve noticed more and more recruiters commenting on this issue as well.
-Record a professional greeting in a friendly voice. This isnโt the time to include your favorite song, a recording from your three-year-old, or some other clever twist.
-When you miss a call, listen to the voicemail before returning the call. Donโt immediately call back and say โYeah, I just missed a call from this number.โ This is not a professional way to present yourself and will likely leave a bad impression.
-Check your voicemail messages ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ and return calls ๐ฅ๐ง๐ค๐ข๐ฅ๐ฉ๐ก๐ฎ.
-Check your email every day as well. If the employer canโt reach you by phone, they will likely send an email to the one you listed on your resume. And yes, some will even send you a text message.
When you are job searching, every little detail matters. Set yourself up for success by being professional and attentive, right from the start!
