Spring is here, my friends, and you know what that means…the much-anticipated Spring cleaning! Let’s clear away remnants of a crisp Winter by organizing and sprucing up our homes, clearing away dead/dry landscaping, and donating some unneeded items. Do you ever think of your bathroom when Spring cleaning rolls around? Not so much the toilet and tub, although let’s not skip those, I’m talking about your medicine cabinet or bathroom vanity. Have you ever noticed just how cluttered it can get?

Here are some simple tips for cleaning out your medicine cabinet:
- Start with a Clean Slate: Empty everything out of your cabinet, it will be easier to sort and organize
- Check Expiration Dates: Separate all expired products, prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medications
- Dispose Properly: For medications you need to get rid of, check your local take-back program or pharmacy to safely dispose of them
- Group Like Items Together: Organize medications by type (pain relievers, cold and flu, allergy meds), group beauty products and toiletries
- Store Smart: Keep medications in a cool, dry place away from heat and moisture; bathroom vanities are not the ideal location
- Check for Duplicates: Reduce clutter by keeping just one of each essential item
- Organize for Accessibility: Place commonly used items at the front for easy access
- First-Aid Supplies: Check bandages, ointments, and other first-aid items to ensure they’re in good condition
- Be Mindful of Kids and Pets: Make sure everything is properly closed and out of reach of little hands or furry friends
