When Pushing Through Stops Working

There’s a dashboard light we’ve all learned to ignore.

Not because we don’t see it,  but because we’re afraid to stop long enough to figure out what’s really going on.

That light? It’s burnout.

And just like a check engine warning, it doesn’t mean something’s wrong with you.

It means something needs your attention.

You’re not broken. You’re just running too hot, for too long, without a chance to cool the engine, refuel, or reset.

You were built for motion—but not constant acceleration.

Even the best machines stall out if they’re never serviced.

Burnout doesn’t always crash in like a storm.

Sometimes it sneaks in slowly:

  • That edge in your voice you don’t recognize.
  • The brain fog that turns simple tasks into mountains.
  • The urge to disappear just to get a moment’s peace.
  • The guilt that shows up when you do rest.

Sound familiar?

We become so good at “powering through” that we stop asking if this pace is even serving us.

And honestly? For a while, it does work. Until it doesn’t.

That’s the trouble with burnout –

By the time you notice the signs, you’re already in the red.

So what’s the answer? Pull over. Pop the hood. Get curious.

Burnout isn’t a flaw in your design.

It’s a flag. A nudge. An invitation.

You don’t need to scrap the car – you just need to recalibrate the system.

That looks different for everyone. But here’s what I’ve learned (and lived):

  • You have to let go of the emotional weight you’ve been silently hauling.
  • You have to rewrite the script that says rest is lazy, or that worth is measured by how much you produce.
  • And you have to retrain your nervous system to believe that calm is safe, that joy is not a reward but a right.

This isn’t about doing more.

It’s about finally feeling better.

Ready to Pull Over and Breathe?

If your warning light is on, you’re not alone.

That’s why I created the Live with Purpose Intentional Living Summer Series which includes a Mastermind + a group Coaching Series—a space to hit pause, reset what’s misaligned, and return to your life with more clarity, capacity, and calm.

Think of it like a tune-up for your whole self – body, mind, and spirit.

If this speaks to something in you… reach out.

Send me a DM. Check out the website listed below for more information. Or just whisper a “yes” to yourself and let’s start there.

Because burnout isn’t the end of the road.

It’s the signpost pointing you home.
